Illinois Appellate Court Severely Restricts Non-Competes

Absent an additional benefit given to a worker beyond mere continued employment, the appellate court held that non-compete agreements will not be enforceable until the worker reaches his or her 2-year anniversary with the employer. To enforce non-competes against workers who depart before such 2-year anniversary, employers now must have provided an additional benefit to the worker.
